The Lightest, Most Compact and Easiest to Fold Travel Strollers

This stroller is among the lightest and compact. It's also the easiest folding strollers. It is a great stroller, a great sun canopy, and multi-position recline.

This stroller is a great value at less than $100. It's compact and easy to fold, making it ideal for public transport or slinging over your shoulder.

1. Lightweight

The key to a good travel stroller is to be lightweight and easy to fold. The most popular models we tested could be folded with one hand and sometimes two, and they can fit in overhead luggage compartments. It's more expensive than other models in the same category but it also comes with extra features such as a large cupholder, a parent pocket, an adjustable handlebar to accommodate parents of different heights and a comfortable carrying strap. Its simplicity is sacrificed for some of its durability in comparison to other models in this category, however.

2. Folding is simple

When you're on the move, a travel stroller needs to be simple to open and close. You do not want a stroller that is difficult to close when you have groceries or children in your arms. The best travel strollers fold up easily and compactly, even when you only have one hand. Many have a padded strap that you can comfortably wear over your shoulders.

The newest model of travel stroller is the tri-fold. It folds in thirds, and offers the perfect combination of compactness and features. The UPPAbaby Miniu for instance, has the ability to flip the chair over with a storage pouch that is not structured at the rear, and a locking latch to keep it folded. It's a bit bigger than the umbrella models made by the brand, but it folds far smaller than its G-Luxe and G-Link counterparts. It also comes with an adjustable carry strap that can be worn over your shoulder.

3. Easy to store

The best travel strollers fold down into smaller, compact size that's easy to fit in the trunk of your car, or into the overhead bin of a plane. Some even come with a carry strap that makes it simple to carry on your shoulders and you don't have to worry about your hands becoming tired. They are also lighter than normal strollers. This makes them easy to lift and carry for a quick walk in the neighborhood or at the airport.

If you're looking for a no-fuss travel stroller that's lightweight and folds down to a compact size the Contours Itsy is a great option. It's nearly assembled right out of the box and the only thing you need to do is to snap the bumper bar in place. It has a cup for parents holder and back pocket, but no oversized basket which might limit your ability to pack essentials for a long-distance trip.

If you're a frequent traveler we recommend you look into a more robust stroller that has more features and the ability to hold more items. The UPPAbaby Mini, as an instance, comes with many of the G-Luxe or G-Link siblings' features, Infant Carriages but is more compact and folds faster. It is also slightly more robust than an umbrella stroller, and comes with a cushioned strap to help lift some of the burden off your shoulders.

4. Comfortable

Comfort is key when using strollers for extended periods of time. Seats that have plenty of padding and a recline system that can be adjusted at different angles are the best. Take note of whether the canopy extends for sun protection and if mesh windows promote airflow. Consider a model that has an organizer for the parents or a cupholder, as well as a large basket under the seat if you need to carry things with you. When looking for a jogger for older children be sure to verify the age range. Also, consider if your child is comfortable in the seat, even without an infant car-seat.

It is also crucial to consider how a stroller rolls. It needs to maneuver easily across a variety of surfaces including smooth hardwoods and shag carpets to cobblestones and gravel.
